I'm currently working on real case studies that will be published here very soon.

03 — What will it cost?

The honest answer: it depends.

A showcase website for a three-person practice has nothing in common with an online store for a launching brand.

That's why I always start with a free 30-minute discovery call — I learn your business, your goals, your constraints. Then, and only then, you get a clear fixed quote, no surprises.

No hidden billing. No bad surprises. No commitment before the signed quote.

04 — About

I'm Thomas Barthelemy — freelance web developer based in Alès, France.

Joiner by trade, web developer by passion. Based in Alès, southern France, I build websites for independents and small businesses — locally in the Gard region and remotely across France. What sets me apart: I come from their world. 17 years in the building trade — 12 as a joiner, 5 in the design office — and 7 years of self-taught coding alongside it. I know what a real jobsite looks like, what a quote that actually holds up reads like, and what it's like to work for someone who doesn't have time to decode tech-speak.

No outsourcing. One dedicated contact from first call to launch, a reply within 24 h on weekdays, and a quote you can actually read — in plain language, not in JavaScript.

Current focus —

Showcase websites for craftspeople, practitioners and small businesses — primarily around Alès, Nîmes, Uzès and across the Gard department, and remotely anywhere in France. Redesigns, online booking tools, small online stores.

    • Since 2021, design office technician: design, costing, site preparation, and daily contact with clients, architects and suppliers.

07 — Your questions

Your questions about web development in France.

  • How much does a website cost?

As a rough guide, a well-built showcase website typically starts around €1,500, a full redesign around €3,000, and an e-commerce project around €5,000. But it's deliberately indicative — the real price depends on your needs. We discuss it during the discovery call, and I send you a fixed quote right after.

  • How long does it take to build a website?

Plan for 2 to 3 weeks for a showcase site, 3 to 5 weeks for a redesign, 4 to 8 weeks for an e-commerce or tailor-made project. I commit to a firm delivery date in the quote.

  • Do you work remotely?

Yes. I'm based in Alès, in southern France, but I work remotely with clients across France. A video call is usually all we need. I also travel locally within about 50 km — Nîmes, Uzès, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Anduze and the wider Gard area.

  • Do you build WordPress sites?

Yes, when it's the right fit. For projects where you need simple, autonomous content management, WordPress (or a headless CMS) can be the right call. For high-performance sites, I prefer Next.js. We choose together based on your actual usage.

  • Can I edit my site myself?

Yes. You'll have a simple interface to edit texts, images, prices, hours, projects — no tech skills needed. A 30-minute training is included at delivery.

  • What happens after delivery?

You get one month of free support for small adjustments. After that, I stay available for any evolutions (new content, new features, extra pages) on a per-quote basis or via a monthly maintenance package.

  • Why you and not an agency?

Because you'll have a single point of contact, who replies fast, doesn't outsource anything, and won't charge you three layers of margin. An agency is still a good fit for very large projects; for everything else, you gain clarity and responsiveness.
